Getting around Barcelona is pretty easy considering there are several options of public transport. The best choice will depend on where you are traveling from and to, the time of the day, whether you are in a hurry or not, and how much you are willing to spend.
To move in the city centre, the underground is the fastest and most practical way. Eight metro lines, which could be easily combined, cover the whole city center and other important points. However, subway stations are isolated places during the night so they should better be avoided. The tram is also a good and affordable alternative to move within the city center. Buses are always a good option. There are lines that move around the city center and others that extend their trip up to the suburban area. There are night schedules even though the frequencies are much lower. As a touristy city in its own right, Barcelona has the well known tourist buses that cover the main tourist landmarks and provide daily tickets facilities. Trains are another good option to move to the suburban areas and to neighboring towns. Either the Renfe Cercanías or the Catalan Railways cover these zones.
